Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School in 1992 began studying marine biology. Bossard began her career as a commercial seafood expert in 1999, when she started working as a crew member on the F/V Sunset the 65' halibut schooner that has been a to salmon tender with Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard is now engaged to Aritan and they have come together to prove their rights to the industry. Both of them are favor of conserving resources and optimizing profit. Otolith was founded by Philadelphia through Bella Bossard and is currently the mother of two children aged 3 and 1, Bossard. Its name is a sweet reference to her deep fish biology knowledge and her husband's lengthy involvement to the industry of seafood, often keeping them apart for 5 months or more as they work towards the environment and financial goals that reflect both their independence and dedication to the community in which they live. Bossard along with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 12 and 10 respectively) Return each year from July to August and continue to Southeast Alaska for the summer catch from wild salmon. The two-month period is when Bossard and her daughter Isabella utilize hooks and lines to fish for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their catch locally to processors.
